This New Year—Be Still

Last week my New Year’s reflection essay, “This New Year—Be Still”, was published at Religion & Liberty Online.

Every day I feel like I am growing in awareness of God’s presence in my life and the world, and this essay was an invitation to myself and others to experience more of that awareness in the New Year:

How can we experience change in the world as inexorable and by turns exhilarating and terrifying—yet experience ourselves as stagnant and meaningless? By missing God’s presence in the world’s events and our own lives.
